More things shutting down
It's been a couple of years since the last An Event Apart happened in 2022.
With Slack's recent decision to delete everything older than a year, on their free plans, quite a few of the groups I belong to now have gone dark.
For example. The Slack that was for An Event Apart—Apartniks. 20+ channels from the conferences, gone.
On the off chance anyone is still subscribed to and monitoring this team, Slack’s announcement that they’ll be deleting any content older than a year means everything here is going to vanish, so I plan to just delete the team entirely. I’ll do that some time between now and the end of August, so if people want to post something ephemeral before then, go for it.
Thanks again to you, all of you, for supporting us over the years, and we hope we’ll see you out there on the tubes.
Though it was very convenient, it's just another reminder to own your data and not to build your community on someone else's land.
